Part Time Housing Assessment Officer

Job Summary
The post is based in the busy Housing Needs Team within the Assessment Team and focuses on rapidly assessing and prioritising the large amount of General Register and Transfer housing applications received from customers applying for an offer of the limited social housing becoming available to those included on the Oxford Register for Affordable Housing.

Responsibilities

  • To be an effective member of the Allocations and Assessment Team.
  • To be open to change, ready to explore new and different approaches, testing and learning to improve, with a passion for providing a great service to people in housing need.
  • To have a positive attitude to problem solving.
  • To provide to customers in housing need, a range of advice and assistance on housing and related areas.
  • To be fully responsible for the assessment of housing applications.
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and case law, including Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
  • To take ownership of cases through to completion, manage a personal caseload and take responsibility for specialist areas/project work.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in housing or a similar front-line, customer focused role.
  • Have a good knowledge of the support needs of people threatened with and experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience and excellent competency of a range of IT and software applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • To have a good knowledge of relevant housing and homelessness legislation including Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homeless Reduction Act, code of guidance and case law and be able to interpret these into working practices.

Part-time, 16 hours a week. Preferably Thursdays & Fridays

Pay: From £18.56 per hour
