Skilled Drainage Operative

IMH Recruitment are currently looking for a Skilled Drainage Operative, to work on behalf of the local council.

The successful person would be able to produce a high standard of workmanship on more complex activities and have developed an extensive knowledge of construction / highway works and requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Able to undertake more complex setting out of lines and levels, including ability to use pipe laser and travellers.
• Able to undertake deep excavation works using complex trench support systems.
• Able to undertake more complex works such as construction of deep manholes and reinforced concrete structures, including formwork.
• Undertakes supervision, mentoring and training of lesser skilled operatives.
• Able to plan and prioritise work to ensure maximum efficiency & productivity.
• Able to work to programmes and meet construction deadlines and targets.
• Ability to determine daily material and plant requirements and inform Site Supervisor / Site Team Leader.
• Able to use specialist safety equipment associated with working in confined spaces, e.g. breathing apparatus equipment, harnesses, etc.

Required Skills & Experiences

• NVQ Level 2 in Highway Maintenance or similar.
• NRSWA Accreditation.
• CSCS Card.
• 5 years’ experience as Drainage Operative/Trainee in highways and drainage environment.
• Extensive knowledge of construction specifications, materials, compaction and workmanship requirements.
• Accredited and relevant H&S Training Records and Certification (e.g. Deep Excavations, Confined Spaces, NPORS plant operator, IOSH working safely, Appointed Person, etc).

Hours & Pay

• 37.5 hours per week
• £13.93 – £15.61p/h
