Graduate Quantity Surveyor

IMH Recruitment are seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator to work in partnership with a leading construction company looking to grow their construction division.

As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will initially assist the Quantity Surveyors and Estimator with their daily roles whilst working towards running your own schemes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain more experience and progress within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the Estimating Role in a busy tender department – key to winning future workload.
  • Sending out enquiries, reviewing tender returns and providing comparisons
  • Online take offs for internal Bills of Quantities to send out enquiries.
  • Assisting with the Procurement and measurement of sub-contract packages ensuring all eventualities are considered.
  • Reviewing and Pricing of Client Variations.
  • Assisting with the monthly cost reporting & monitoring
  • Subcontractor Payments / Notices
  • Assisting with the collation, preparation, approval and issue of all contractual documentation as required
  • Visiting site to assist with the preparation and submission of monthly client evaluations, to include any cost reporting together with measurement of completed works for the assessment and certification of sub-contractor’s valuations.
  • Close liaison with the team – to ensure the timely and efficient progress of works on site and provision of information to the site team.

Person Specification

  • You will have a degree (or working towards) in Quantity surveying.
  • Ideally have some experience with a contractor (but not essential) or have worked part-time for a contractor whilst completing your studies.
  • Varying market sectors, ideally in care homes, schools, refurbs
  • Project experience of £0.5-£3.5m
  • Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective time management and decision-making skills
  • An ambitious attitude with the desire for a career in quantity surveying/estimating
  • Excellent team player
