Grounds Person

IMH are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grounds Person to join our clients landscape and grounds keeping team. For this role we are looking for hard working individuals to work within a trees & woodlands team out and about in the city. The main function of the work will be the removal of the basal and trunk growth (suckers) from the city’s highway trees.

You will be working next to the highway, therefore, we need any applicants to understand the health & safety implications of this. You will be using hand pruners/saws and potentially hedging shears.

Duties

• Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, pruning, and planting to ensure healthy growth and visual appeal.
• Operate and maintain power tools such as trimmers, blowers, and lawn mowers safely and efficiently.
• Use hand tools for planting, edging, aerating, and other groundskeeping activities.
• Conduct routine inspections of outdoor areas to identify hazards or maintenance needs and address them promptly.
• Follow safety protocols consistently to prevent accidents during equipment operation or manual tasks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in landscape maintenance, grounds keeping, gardening, or horticulture.
• Mechanical knowledge related to operating power tools and small machinery safely.
• Familiarity with irrigation systems and their repair or adjustment.
• Strong knowledge of gardening techniques, plant care, and environmental sustainability practices.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance procedures.
• Physical stamina with the ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of safety standards related to grounds keeping operations.
• Ideally hold valid UK driving license

This role is essential in maintaining safe, attractive outdoor environments that enhance our community spaces.
